Inktober 2017 // Check!

I swear they weren't all Ed Sheeran lyrics...
I decided I would do Inktober on a whim about two days before October started, I’d um’d and ah’d about it for a few days prior but I essentially decided on September 29th that I would do it and because of that I just used the default prompts released by Jake Parker. But instead of just lettering the word (oh yes I decided to do ink lettering each day) I lettered the first song that popped into my head when I read the word. Some of the songs related to the word, some weren’t related but contained the word in a part of the song, and some were just so unrelated I just had that song stuck in my head.

I couldn’t actually remember the last time I picked up my paintbrush and brought out my ink that I thought I really should focus my month on this. I used to do brush letter challenges all the time, although I rarely did them each day instead I sat down 2-4 times a month and cranked out 10ish words at a time. This time, however, I managed it, apart from a few days here and there because I’d travelled to Auckland or Wanganui and had to catch up, I managed to letter each and every day in October. Having not being able to remember the last time I brush lettered I was definitely a little rusty in the beginning, but that’s the good thing about doing something each day — you get better!

I still need a lot more practice before I’ll be back to where I was, and to the point where I’d be happy selling my work but as the little bear Koda in Brother Bear says; I’m on my way!
